Hey, it’s Ry.
After connecting with you and learning about your concerns all summer, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and take action.
Here’s my first 100-day legislative Action Plan for Camas.
Your Lake
Our lake is the soul of our community, and right now, as you know, it's not in great shape. We're dealing with pollution, toxic algae, and more. This isn’t just a “future generations” problem. This is a right-now problem.
Here's What I'll Do:
Immediately retest ENTIRE lake water samples, including multiple points within the Lacamas Shores bio-filter, and upstream groundwater beginning with the golf course.
Implement immediate short-term alum treatments to clear up the water surface.
Roll out a comprehensive Lake Rescue Action Map, our blueprint for a sustainable ecosystem that includes innovative, no-harm solutions like nano-bubblers and floating wetland islands.
Enforce existing stormwater system management and continuous sampling to minimize pollution.
Implement pollution source identification to determine root causes of toxins, then implement best-practice remedies to address those identified causes.
We must not just treat the symptoms, but identify and cure the disease itself.
Your Pool
They yanked out our Crown Park Pool and then tried to bait us with a $78 million alternative. Now we have nothing. No community pool. We can do better, Camas.
Here's What I'll Do:
Prioritize construction of a brand-new, competition-grade community swimming pool.
Keep it affordable: No bonds, no new taxes. We’re looking at less than $10 million here.
Bring both High School Swim Teams and School Systems into the fold. Leverage partners like the YMCA to provide risk-free operational support of new facilities.
Include Washougal like we did before Camas decided to go it alone on a $78 million-dollar boondoggle.
Move to break ground in Spring/Summer of 2024 and aim to be poolside by Summer 2025.
Your City
Is 3,500 new McMansions on the Northside of Camas what you really want?
I like roundabouts, but do we need 4-5 for $45 million bucks right now? Is that really the best use of our tax money when downtown infrastructure continues to suffer? Can Lacamas Lake handle all the additional stormwater runoff? Do our planners even care?
What I know is this:
As your City Councilor, I’ll move to put the brakes on an out of control system—at least long enough for your voice to be heard.
We need new surveys, that ask REAL questions, not carefully selected presentations designed to reach pre-planned, already-decided outcomes.
Your Voice
Your voice isn’t just a vote. It’s your super power. Your voice can move mountains. And it’s about time we had leadership that truly understands that.
Here's What I'll Do:
Move to Repeal that unwanted utility tax. Then, allow voters to decide if they want a new utility tax on the next ballot.
Monthly town halls and public forums where you talk and city hall listens. No more 3-minute limits where they start to cut you off with 30 seconds to go. No more “we can’t answer you” responses. How about REAL two-way communication? I’ll order pizza and drinks and we’ll stay all night if necessary. Until folks feel heard.
Then we take your ideas and feedback and actually do something about it. I’ll turn your voice into action. For the very first time, you’ll see just how easy it can be.
Ready for Real Change?
This 100-day Camas Action Plan – it’s not just my idea. It’s ours. Based on what you told me matters to you.
So what do you think? You ready to clean up our lake, bring back our pool, and be heard like never before?
We are 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀 close, Camas.
Let’s get to work. Let’s vote for change. And let’s go 𝘽𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘾𝙃𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙀 𝙒𝙀 𝙎𝙀𝙀𝙆.
