Camas Unsilenced: Our City, Our Voice, Our Time to Act
Good afternoon, Camas. It's Ry.
Last night, we received a jolting reminder of the forces we're up against. My NextDoor account—the cornerstone of our community dialogue and the platform where I first connected with many of you—was abruptly and unjustly disabled.
Gone with it were not just my latest video, spotlighting nine glaring examples of our city's neglect to listen, but also five months of in-depth research, reporting, and a year's worth of art produced for our Camas Coffee Club events.
But they didn't just silence me. They silenced you.
They deleted thousands of your comments, wiping out irrefutable evidence of our community's capacity for civil dialogue—our shared conversations, dreams, and even our constructive, respectful disagreements.
This Isn't My Campaign Anymore—it's Yours
This campaign was never about me. It’s about us. Nor is it a stage for partisan politics. It's a platform for what's right over what's wrong. And it's not just another local election. It's about the heart and soul of Camas.
And now, this campaign is no longer mine—it's ours.
Your Voice, Your Choice: How to Amplify Our Movement
You don't have to shout from the rooftops to make your voice heard.
Support comes in many forms—sharing this post, talking to friends, or simply opening doors to new conversations in your neighborhood.
And if life’s circumstances have you feeling unable to publicly act, that's totally fine. The most important action comes when you mark your ballot next month. Your vote is your voice, and that's powerful all on its own.
But for those ready to crank up the volume, here’s your next move:
Be Heard
1. Connect with Me
If you haven't yet, please find me on these other platforms that will become our focal points. Especially Facebook + Youtube where our deleted videos will live on.
Youtube
TikTok
Also heard folks set up a Ry4Camas group on NextDoor for updates. Pls join that.
2. Share this Message
The time for silence is over. Share this newsletter far and wide, with every friend, neighbor, family member. Even strangers. Make it echo in every corner of Camas.
3. Grab New Signs and Flyers
Come by 2017 NW 33rd Way (off Sierra) to pick up new flyers. I’ll leave a box out.
Also have new signs hot off the press, and a few folks already grabbed theirs today.
4. Print your own DIY poster
And if you’d rather print from the comfort of your own home, I’ve designed new 8.5x11” posters for you. Download the PDF here and throw them on the inkjet.
You can tape to your window, slap some stickers, or put it on a T-Shirt.
You can also grab the print files here:
Show folks that it’s not about you supporting me but about me standing with you. Show our town that our voice will not be silenced, our presence will not be erased.
Whatever works. Whatever it takes. You will be heard.
Unyielding Spirit: Our Call to Act
Don't mistake this setback for surrender. They can't snuff out the fire that fuels folks’ desire for change. We adapt, we rise, and above all, we amplify.
In standing together, Camas, we become an unstoppable chorus of diverse voices that no one can silence. Fear has no foothold here. This is your city, our collective voice, and one pivotal moment.
Thank you for sharing, and see you on the front lines.
❤️Ry
