Rising Above Challenges, Building Bridges of Hope
Hey again.
So last night was. Perfect warm fall evening where we all dressed up to enjoy another First Friday downtown.
Special shoutout to Camas DCA for organizing fam-friendly activities. And Piccolo’s Allie even gave me an insightful tarot reading over at Bookish! 😹
But as we were heading home for the kids’ bedtime, I got word that yet another one of my signs—this time part of the triptych at Crown & 3rd—had been ruthlessly vandalized.
The one that, while big, was fully compliant with our city ordinances.
Splintered wood everywhere. Message torn apart.
It's a wild reality that when some can't handle your message, they silence it. And when that doesn’t work, they smother it.
People are sick of living divided. People are sick of watching what they say (or think). People want change. But nothing changes if nothing changes.
In moments like these, I'm reminded of my grandmother's words..
They cannot hurt you, unless you let them.
And so, today we pick up the broken pieces and continue our journey. We’re getting together to knock 500 doors today, another knock another 500 tomorrow.
Nothing worth doing was easy, so we face these sorts of hurdles head-on, transforming them into bridges. We turn fear into HOPE.
Because that's where we find strength—in the connections, conversations, and collective will of our community.
And for those who've asked, yes, we’re distributing more signs this weekend. 😅
If you want one, now's the time. In fact, it’s now or never.
And the good news they tend to stay safe on private property! 🤠
But remember, in this strange moment in our city’s history, it doesn't really matter how you outwardly show your support. It's your inner commitment to change that truly counts.
So let's roll with it, Camas. We've got this!

PPS: If you have any info on the damage, please reach out. Together, we're not just imagining a better tomorrow for Camas—we're actively building it. Let's unite to create a home where everyone belongs, now and for generations to come.
