Hey there, it’s Ry.
Been a while since I reached out, and I want to thank you for joining me on this journey as I step forward from our Camas Coffee Club to run for City Council.
Because it's time for us to come together and discuss issues that are close to all of our hearts and critical for our city—like the future of YOUR LAKE.
As you may recall, almost two years ago, our city paid over half a million dollars to consultants in hopes of cleaning up our crown jewel.
Fast forward to nw where we see the season's first algal blooms, prompting Clark County to issue a Public Health warning due to the elevated cyanotoxin levels.
And we’ve been through this drill before, it’s becoming a yearly summertime tradition:
No swimming.
No boating.
No fishing.
And certainly don't consume any catch.
The most heartbreaking part? You must keep your pets away from the lake.
The toxin levels were so high that it's basically unsafe even to dip your toe in.
Yet, not everyone was informed. Just last Friday—during peak bloom—my neighbors were out paddle boarding with their young kids. Thanks to some vigilant locals, they were advised to get out of the water.
But tomorrow night, a critical town hall meeting is scheduled at the Lodge. This is where our city officials (or perhaps their paid consultants?) will reveal the results of their year-long, half a million-dollar study.
Having had a sneak peak, I fear you might not like what they've found.
Meetings like this often take place during the summer, when people are busy or away. But this is critical—we all need to show up. Our lake is in trouble, and it's an emergency we must face together.
This is about our home, our community, and the future of our lake. It's about the legacy we're leaving for our children. So, I urge you, let's show up:

Tomorrow
Lacamas Lodge
Bring a friend and spread the word.
Because the lake can’t talk. It doesn’t have a voice. But you do.
And you deserve better. Your lake deserves better.
See you there.
❤️RY
P.S. As Election Day draws nearer, I'll keep you updated with stories from our neighbors, hidden gems from our city's past, and key pieces of legislation I'm studying. It's all part of our collective journey towards a brighter future for Camas.
I want to thank you again for being part of this movement that emerged from our conversations at Camas Coffee Club. I heard your questions, your dreams, and your concerns loud and clear. You care about the future of your city, your lake, your pool, and you want to ensure your voice is heard. We're going to make that happen.
But remember, it's only together that we can be the change we seek.
